Record Breakers 2009

We are accepting submissions from the 2009 swim season.

Stephen Schmidt, a 9-10, from Orinda Country Club had a wonderful 2009 record breaking summer. See below for Stephen's records.

Orinda Moraga Pool Championships (OMPA):

Event: 100 yard IM
Old time: 1:09.81 (set in 2005)
Stephen's time: 1:08.52

Event: 50 yard Breaststroke
Old time: 35.64 (set in 2007)
New time: 35.53



Gianna Garcia, a 9-10, from Crow Canyon Sea Lions had a wonderful record breaking summer. The highlights of the records are shown below.

Aqua Pen:

Broke a 27-year-old record with a time of 3:23.19; the old record was set in 1982 with a time of 3:25.80!

Woodlands:

50 Back with a time of 31.66 breaking the old record of 32.71 set in 2005.

50 Fly with a time of 29.87 bringing down the old record of 30.48 set in 2006.

9-10 Free and Medley Relays broke records from 1999 and 2005.

VSA League Championships:

50 Back with a time of 32.16 with the old record being set in 2005.

50 Fly with a time of 30.56 with the old record being set in 2006 .

100 I.M. with a time of 1:10.28

9/10 Free and Medley Relays both set records.

Contra Costa County ~Teaming up with her relay partners, they were again able to set records in the 9-10 Girls Free and Medley Relays.


Ryan Iannaccone, 8, from East County Stingrays holds up his high point trophy from the Contra Costa County Championships. Ryan had a successful season breaking a total of 15 records, which are listed below.

PHD Pool Record:

25 Back with a time of 17.51 (old time was 17.61)

Four ECS Pool Records:

25 Back with a time of 16.94 (old time was 17.16)

25 Fly with a time of 15.53 (old time was 16.86)

25 Free with a time of 14.60 (old time was 14.73)

100 IM with a time of 1:19.55 (old time was 1:20.75)

Four ECS team records:

25 Back with a time of 16.17 (old time was 16.54)

25 Fly with a time of 15.29 (old time was 15.32)

25 Free with a time of 14.17 (old time was 14.32)

100 IM with a time of 1:16.32 (old time was 1:20.96)

Battle of the Ages Meet Record:

25 Back with a time of 17.09 (old time was 17.38)

Contra Costa Swim League Meet Pool and League Records:

25 Back with a time of 16.46 (old time was 17.09 and 17.19)

100 IM pool and team records with a time of 1:19.78 (old records were 1:20.32 set in 1998 and 1:21.82 set in 2000)

25 Fly pool record with a time of 15.29 (old time was 15.32)


Tyler Bartis from Campolindo Cabana Club swam the 11-12 50 yard breaststroke in a time of 29.75 to break the OMPA Championship record of 30.45 set by Michael Sargenti in 1987.


Jordan Fetterman of Pleasant Hill Aquatics broke their 28 year old pool record for the 9-10 boys butterfly with a time of 32.52. The previous record was set by Jason Coleman with a time of 32.80.

2009 Contra Costa County Championship Meet Records


Charlie Wiser (Orinda) broke the Boys 13-14 100 IM with a time of 53.83.

Marina Smith (CCCC) broke the Girls 11-12 50 Free with a time of 24.77.

Nicholas Inserra (Springbrook) broke the Boys 11-12 50 Free with a time of 23.57.

Tyler Bartis (CCC) broke the Boys 11-12 50 Free with a time of 23.57.

Tyler Bartis (CCC) broke the Boys 11-12 50 Breast with a time of 30.10.

Charlie Wiser (Orinda) broke the Boys 13-14 50 Breast with a time of 26.91.

Marina Smith (CCCC) broke the Girls 11-12 50 Fly with a time of 27.24.

The following relay records were broken:

Girls 9-10 200 Medley Relay from Crow Canyon County Club with a time of 2:07.25 (Isabella Barattolo, Sarah Klass, Gianna Garcia and Alexa Fusari)

Boys 11-12 200 Medley Relay from Crow Canyon County Club with a time of 1:57.71 (Alex Barden, JJ Koski, Connor Doyle, Kyle Kearns)

Boys 13-14 200 Medley Relay from Crow Canyon County Club with a time of 1:44.97 (Ben Hunt, Colin Chiapello, Cody Tanabe, Andrew Shutt)

KJ Kroetch (Springbrook Swim Team) broke the Women’s 15-18 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.13.

Las Lomas High School (Terrapins) broke 100 Breaststroke National High School record in an incredible time of 58.75 (The first Woman High School swimmer to break 59 seconds.) She also set the NCS record in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.61. (AT File Photo)
